So sad...

that we can't all view the world the same way, but that is what makes us human I suppose. Yes it is great when a minority can become the president of the United States but geez, I really wish it had been someone who wouldn't take us in such a far left direction. We are getting away from the days of self reliance and answering for your own mistakes.

Helping people who need help is one thing. But I'm afraid a lot more people are gonna have their hands out. The best way to help people is to encourage business to create more jobs. Government does NOT create jobs. We will see more and more companies going out of business along with more and more companies moving overseas.

Friends who voted for Obama think I am cruel and narrow minded. We'll see.

Very well stated Joyce. I couldn't agree more. My apt is among welfare families...pisses me off that I wake up at 4-5 a.m. to work my ass off all day while these women just keep popping out babies, don't pay rent, and get vouchers to pay for their electricity. Like paying their bills is EVER going to make them get up off their asses to work. I should quit one of my jobs and stick my hand out too, jeez.

I told my boss that's what I would do too!! There should be a time limit for anyone who is physically able to work to be on government money. Get the voucher maybe for child care so they can go to work and I don't care if it's nothing but McDonald's and welfare pays the difference, at least they would be putting forth an effort.

Exactly! I was on welfare when Nick was born but that's because I sincerely needed it. But let me tell you I did NOT stay on it for longer than I had to! I just can't stand being lazy and am very intolerant of those who are.

I grew up in a single parent home with multiple siblings, like most Americans these days and my Mom's income was poverty level. We qualified for Welfare but my Mom never took it. It made an impact on me and to this day, I think if she could do it and never go on the system with no college education than others can too. it just sickens me what is happening. It is one thing if someone truely needs it. We all hit hard spots, but there needs to be a time limit.

I don't as a rule discuss politics or religion, but I must say Joyce you stated my feelings pretty much exactly. Martha you are to be admired, you work so hard to provide for yourself and Nick. I overheard a couple of gals talking in Walmart about how much 'easier' their lives were going to be now that they wouldn't have to pay for anything. Both were in pjs for God's sake and had a passel of kids between them. I moved to another line before I let my dirty Irish mouth get away from me. Reall sad!

LOL Jean you have a dirty Irish mouth too!! And the sad thing is ain't no way he'll get everything through that he wants (I Hope not) and these same "mommas" will be raising bloody hell that he let them down! Aint that too bad... NOT

My mom left my dad when I was 12, worked as a waitress and cleaned motel rooms to raise us. Dad never paid a single penny of child support. We never had much but we were proud of what we had. And if we wanted more, we got out to mow yards and baby sit for money. I paid for all my own clothes in high school and put gas in the car so I could use it. We did all this without any welfare except for one short time. Like you ladies said, we got off it quick.

LOL - can't say I agree...at all really...but I still love ya!! ;)

Love you too Emma! And when it comes to kids with special needs, well that is a totally different thing, I think we would all agree there. Would love to see more research (yay Kylie) and more help to families in these situations. These are certainly NOT the people we are complaining about.

I don't mind helping people when they truly need our help.

Oh I totally know what you mean. It's a slippery slope and incredibly difficult/complicated to solve. No doubt we need some sort of welfare reform. It's so frustrating that there are those that take advantage of the system and therefore tainting it and draining it for others who need it.

It's some of the other stuff I don't agree with. LOL But I don't think you are cruel and narrow minded as a result. Different opinions and different beliefs are what have made this nation great. I'm so hopeful that we are headed in the right direction. SOMETHING has to change. Only time will tell though.

We'll cross our fingers. Believe me, I do not want to able to say "I told you so". Not you specifically but YKWIM!

On to bigger and better things. Heck at this point I'd be happy if Sheldon found a job.

I'll keep everything crossed for Sheldon. :( I don't think I knew he was looking.

You are neither cruel or narrow minded...I love reading what you have written on this particular topic. I may or may not agree with you all the time (for the RECORD I do here). I had a "conversation" with someone recently who thought I didn't vote for the man because of his skin color...UM NOOOOO....he's as much white as he is black and I don't CARE about that at all! I was pretty ticked that a friend of mine would even SAY that...and this friend is someone who KNOWS me rather well. Put Colin Powell on the ballot...he'll get my vote. eye roll at my "friend".

Auntie Em said...

Yep Colin, Herman Cain, Candi Rice (I don't care if she is part of the old Bush admin, that is one smart lady), any of those would be great candidates.

I did some research on McCain's voting history in the senate and Obama. A lot of folks in my community are retired AF and they voted for McCain. I could not figure out why because of the way he voted in vet issues. Come to find out McCain did vote no on some vet issues, but it was because there was a lot of "we will vote this if you vote that" and the things he was to vote for with a yes vote were not acceptable. Do you know that Obama like hardly ever voted in the Senate? Not that I am a big McCain fan. I think he changes himself to fit what he thinks will get him votes (I do think he would make a better president than Obama), but on this issue he was not to blame entirely.

Auntie Em said...

Right Betz! McCain was not my number one choice, but he would not have done so much damage that the next fiscally conservative candidate wouldn't have been unable to do the right thing. If Obama gets passed what he wants, then we will no longer be the USA. Unless it's the United Socialist Americas. I say that America plural on purpose cause I can see us annexing Mexico sometime in the future...
