Oh. this is a hard one. This runs that nice little line with the feminist in me and the pacifist in me.

Honestly. Yes. I think it should be done. As women we want to be as good as men and frankly we should expect the same responsibilites. Now we shouldn't really have a draft and this should be a mute point, but still yes. It should go both ways. Plus i'm as tough or tougher than half the guys I know so really the army would be gaining more by getting me than them.

What's your view?

LOL I bet you could woop their ....

I think this has been the norm all along in places like Israel. And there are times I think it would be good for peoples discipline and getting a good start on life if there was maybe a one year mandatory.

Obama is the one putting that out there which really surprised me! And he is thinking about funds for college being paid back at least partially with similiar service. That might be the ONE issue we could agree on. Don't give something for nothing.

How un-Democratic of him.....

Hi Linda!

I'm just expecting some back peddling from some folks on this one.

Just thought I would stir it up!

I hadn't heard of this yet but I'm just like KT - gotta give if you want to get. Not that I would want to be signed up... but everyone sure would appreciate their freedom more if they actually had to work for it, no? :)

Every one of appropriate age should register. Special abilities like being a nurse or a fireman should be noted and those persons shouls be used in their area of expertiese.
It is not about being as good as men or as tough as men....first man I see do an unmedicated childbirth.....they are tough....
but yes, i think we need a data base of people by skill level for any national emergency. People who have boats for pity's sakes should be registered fot report for uresue duty. We have lost our sense of unity. today it is all about "me...meme.....em......it needs bo about soething bigger than ourselves.
